Saturday Miscellany—8/3/19

A very diverse batch for ya this week, but there are some gems here among the odds ‘n ends over the week about books and reading that caught my eye. You’ve probably seen some/most/all of them, but just in case:

This Week’s New Releases I’m Excited About and/or You’ll Probably See Here Soon:

  • Chances Are . . . by Richard Russo—this seems out-of-the-norm for Russo, but should still be worth the read
  • Dark Age by Pierce Brown—another installment in the Red Rising saga, this one is huge and looks good. A little daunting, really.

Lastly, I’d like to say hi and extend a warm welcome to lindajacksonblog and Self Development for following the blog this week.

Library Haul 8/3/19, My Eyes are Bigger than My Stomach

  1. Well, maybe Dark Age will slow you down a little bit so you can catch up on some reviews?

I woke up at 5am this morning (blah to that!) and after drinking one of my morning caffeine beverages, churned out 4 book reviews for later this month and then did the post I just put up. AND I took a walk with Mrs B while it was cool.

    I think YOU need caffeine…

    • I have been on caffeine for a couple of weeks…

That’s a good point about Dark Age, I’d joked about that sort of thing Thursday, but I’m supposed to pick it up today at the library. Hmmmm.

      Bookstooge as Life Coach.

      • Ha, I can’t imagine me as a life coach. It wouldn’t turn out well, for anyone 😀

        What form of caff?

        • All. But primarily coffee (saving a good amount of money)

          • My stomach can’t handle the amount of coffee needed to deliver enough caff anymore. One of the reasons I switched to energy drinks years ago 🙂

            • My system can’t handle the non-caffeine parts of energy drinks (and honestly, I’m surprised anyone’s can).

Getting older (and biology!) sucks sometimes

              • I hear you. I’ve stopped Monster energy drinks because my joints hurt pretty bad after drinking them now. I’ve switched over to Bang, as that is at least colorless and has less chemicals than even Rockstar.
sadly, at some point I’ll be having to give caff up altogether ?

              • The horror! (and that’s not sarcasm)

              • Yeah, it’s going to be a sad day when that happens…
