It’s Wednesday, time for me to figure out what I’m reading next, as part of what we call WWW Wednesday.

The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Easy enough, right?
What are you currently reading?
I’m reading the ARC of the second DS Max Craigie Scottish Crime Thriller, The Blood Tide by Neil Lancaster, and I’m listening to Shattered Bonds by Faith Hunter, Khristine Hvam (Narrator) on audiobook. I’ve only got one more book in my Jane Yellowrock revisit, I need to figure out what I’m going to do next.
What did you recently finish reading?
The last book I finished was Wajahat Ali’s Go Back to Where You Came From: And Other Helpful Recommendations on How to Become American. I also just completed Under Color of Law by Aaron Philip Clark, Preston Butler III (Narrator) on audio.
What do you think you’ll read next?
My next book should be Jumping Sharks and Dropping Mics: Modern Idioms and Where they Come From by Gareth Carrol, which looks like a lot of fun. My next audiobook should be the hardboiled PI/Fantasy mashup, Dead Man in a Ditch by Luke Arnold.

Just finished a couple of frivolous books: Piers Anthony’s “A Spell for Chameleon”, first in his Xanth series, and unfortunately so datedly sexist in its outlook that I have absolutely no desire to read any of the other 48 or so in the Xanth series. And the I squeezed in (a one-night read) an excellent Agatha Christie, “They Do It with Mirrors”, a Miss Marple episode which somehow I had not read before. I also finished Esi Edugyan’s award-winning “Washington Black” but have not yet quite decided what I think of it.
All this because I am somehow not loving “The Book Thief” despite many good reports, but I am determined to get through it this month and get if off my TBR list. Also at a slow point the “The Hopi”, an anthropological study of the reclusive Southwest tribe, bogged down in very detailed descriptions of ceremonial dances at the moment. And making no progress on Lawrence Durrell’s “Justine”, maybe because I know when I finish it there will still be three more volumes of “The Alexandria Quartet” to get through. And started Paul Theroux’s “Great Railway Bazaar” because I wanted a good travel read, but his tone is so sour and jaded I may not finish.
Next? “Corelli’s Mandolin” has also been on my TBR shelf much too long.

Oh, I remember Xanth books being only borderline acceptable back in the 80s, I can’t imagine trying to read one today.
Sounds like you’ve got a handful of less-than-satisfying reads, hope that turns around
