Well, today got away from me. Let me get this up and I’ll try again tomorrow.

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words—and shown to me by Aurore-Anne-Chehoke at Diary-of-a-black-city-girl.

The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Seems easy enough, right? Let’s take a peek at this week’s answers:

What are you currently reading?

I’m reading still A Blight of Blackwings by Kevin Hearne, as with the first in the trilogy, as much as I’m enjoying the book, I need to take a break from it every now and then. but hopefully I finish it before next week’s post. I’m also listening to a very odd take on Peter Pan, Darling by K. Ancrum, read by Angel Pean, on audiobook.

What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished a couple of very entertaining books: Olivia Blacke’s Rhythm and Clues and Dead Ground by M.W. Craven, read by John Banks on audio.

What do you think you’ll read next?

My next book should be the ARC of The Tenacious Tale of Tanna the Tendersword by Dewey Conway & Bill Adams (soooo many ARCs lately, how am I ever going to make TBR progress?) and my next audiobook should be a quick trip to Painter’s Mill, Ohio (the most crime-ridden Amish community in the States) in A Hidden Secret by Linda Castillo, read by Kathleen McInerney .

  1. My bedside book is “How Star Wars Conquered the Universe” which is a fine episodic read. I started “Love Stars and All That” by Kirin Narayan, which is shaping up to be an Indian-flavored romcom. After a brilliant beginning, Robert Graves’ “Hercules, My Shipmate” is bogged down in a bunch of detail about Jason’s parentage and physical attibutes – will we ever get to the Argonauts? And as a refuge, there is Tony Hillerman’s “The Fallen Man.”

I finished a couple of re-reads: “Sprig Muslin” by G. Heyer – a re-imagining of a familiar plot but she is so good at making the old seem new. And “The Last Enchantment” by Mary Stewart – not the highlight of her Arthurian Saga but a workmanlike transition novel. And I finished my previous bedside book – a memoir, “Evenings with Cary Grant”, a collection of loving reminisces and smiling photos which any fan of classic movies must love – not a mean word in the entire book!

Next: So much on my TBR shelf! And so many fluffy temptations!

I’m currently reading “Being Henry” by Henry Winkler. I’m just a little ways into it, but so far, it’s very good. Winkler is incredibly open about his family, his own shortcomings, etc., and it’s been fun to hear him talk about other actors he met early on in L.A., actors I remember watching in some of my favorite TV shows back in the 70s and 80s.

I recently finished “Hostage,” a 2001 Robert Crais novel I somehow missed all those years ago. As usual, Crais weaves a story with lots of twists, and early on, I found myself wondering, where is he going with the other 90% of this thing. Enter the twists. I recommend this book.

Next up will probably be “Strong Like You,” the T.L. Simpson book you recommended, H.C.
