This week’s topic is, “Top 5 series I wished were shorter. Speaking of George (or even any Wheel of Time fans), is there a series that you wish was shorter than it is. Maybe it’s by one book — maybe it’s by eleven. You tell us!!”
As this the second in a similar series of Top 5 Tuesday topics, I figured I’d keep this one to a video, too. Let me know what you think.

I wish the Outlander books had stopped after “Voyager”. I wish the Jack Reacher series had stopped with Lee Child. I wish Tony HIllerman’s Jim Chee/Joe Leaphorn series had stopped when Hillerman died. I wish no series ever went back and tried to do prequels (I’m looking at you, Suzanne Collins and J. K. Rowling)

I wondered if the Outlander books had run out of steam, it seemed likely (I can see the series going on beyond the first book, but not indefinitely). Shame to hear about the Hillerman series.

I agree with you on the Stephanie Plum books! I haven’t even bothered to read the most recent ones to be honest. My first thought with this prompt was the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. Later books definitely had diminishing returns.
I ran this by my oldest and he agreed with Percy Jackson although he said the Egypt ones are the best and the only ones he rereads. He also said he thought Artemis Fowl could have been a book shorter.

I’m not prepared to say the Kane books are the best. But I could be talked into it 🙂
I have one unread Plum on my stack–and I think I’m two paperbacks behind in purchasing. I kind of want to finish the arc I’m in the middle of, but I don’t know that I’ll keep going. (but man, the sunk-cost fallacy is doing its work with me…I have so many of the series on my shelves)
