WWW Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Hey, it’s the middle of the week and we could all use a distraction, so let’s go for a quick WWW Wednesday!

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words—and shown to me by Aurore-Anne-Chehoke at Diary-of-a-black-city-girl.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Easy enough, right?

What are you currently reading?

I’m reading The Awful Truth About The Sushing Prize by Marco Ocram and am hopefully wrapping up listening to The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton, James Cameron Stewart (Narrator). Work has been a little crazy lately, and my reading (and listening) has taken a hit, so the turnover here just isn’t what I’m used to seeing.

What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished David Rosenfelt’s The K Team and if everything went the way it should’ve, you can read my take on the book today.

What do you think you’ll read next?

My next book should be The Immortal Conquistador by Carrie Vaughn and Back to Reality by Mark Stay & Mark Oliver, Kim Bretton (Narrator) on audiobook.

Hit me with your Three W’s in the comments! (no, really, do it!)

  1. I loved The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.

  2. So you’re working more?!? No working from home, (or, pretending to work while staying home) for you? I suddenly have more time on the weekends as church has been shut down until Easter and even then they’ll see how things stand. And the Adventist church we go to once a month is shut down too, so yeah, even with listening to sermons online, more time since we don’t have to deal with get ready or travel time.

I’m nearing the end of Cursor’s Fury. Since it’s my work book, it really depends on how busy we are for how much I get to read of it. Still just as good 😀

    • No, no working from home. My days are busy enough now (and for the next 1-2 months) that I don’t get my typical reading time–and the environment is currently such that audiobooks are difficult (at best) to listen to. Maybe 45 minutes of audiobook time so far this week (used to 15+ Mon-Weds). Not complaining, it’s just difficult to take care of the non-paid stuff with it all.

Cursor’s Fire is going to have to be an April listen for me, I think. Glad it’s still good 🙂

  3. I really want to read that new Carrie Vaughn book but probably won’t be able to get to it for a while, looking forward to your thoughts on it! I’ve actually been reading a lot less this week too–who knew I’d somehow be MORE busy working from home?

    • I’m a little worried about what’ll happen to my productivity when/if I get to telecommute (well, not worried about work, just everything else).

In short, the Vaughn book was a nice way to spend some time. I was supposed to be writing my post on it right now, and…just don’t think that’s going to happen. Whoops.

      • I know what you mean, I need to write a review and I just haven’t had time…

        • Speaking of Vaughn, have you read any of the Cormac/Amelia short fiction? Keep meaning to take the plunge, but I’m easily distracted

          • I have not read any of her work yet but I really want to! There are several books of hers that I’m looking forward to checking out. She’s actually doing an AMA on r/fantasy today, you should stop by and talk to her if you get the chance!

            • Bad assumption on my part. Whoops. I’ve read all but 2 of her novels (I own one of those tho, so…one day…). Definitely worth checking out.
